the lounge: a warm welcome

Upon entering the perren, residents are welcomed into an inviting ski lounge that feels both grand and intimate. Inspired by the rustic charm of a wooden barrel, this double-height room is enveloped in rich, warm pine wood, with every surface lovingly crafted by local artisans. The majestic staircase, also wrapped in solid wood panels, becomes a focal point, leading the way to an ample private meeting room. Above, the ceiling is adorned with a bespoke fresco, painted and hand-carved by a skilled artist, adding a touch of elevated elegance to the space. The semi-circular design of the lounge naturally draws residents in, guiding them toward a stunning four-sided fireplace.

In this cozy, communal space, residents find the perfect spot to unwind after a day on the slopes. Whether sharing stories over a coffee or simply soaking in the ambiance, the lounge becomes the welcoming heart of the mountain retreat - a place where neighbors gather and every day begins and ends with warmth.

bar and restaurant:
a modern take on alpine tradition

In the continuation of the lounge, the bar and restaurant at the perren offer a dining experience that beautifully blends alpine tradition with a modern, refined twist. In the bar, the warm embrace of pine wood creates an intimate and cozy atmosphere, further enhanced by handpicked fabrics chosen for their textured aesthetic appeal and acoustic properties. Each detail, from the stone countertops to the handcrafted wood paneling and bespoke furnishings, has been thoughtfully selected to create a space that feels both luxurious and inviting.

The adjoining restaurant extends this warmth into a bright, airy, sunroom-like space that stands as a newly-built extension of the historic structure. Large windows flood the space with natural light, offering views of the neighboring river. The stone flooring, which continues throughout the entire space, anchors the design in the natural beauty of the mountains. Here, residents and outside guests can savor meals prepared in an open kitchen where every dish reflects the same care and attention to detail that defines the entire property. The restaurant becomes more than just a place to eat; it transforms into a space where memories are made and shared

wellness area :
a sanctuary of serenity

Yearning for a moment of respite from the slopes? Step into a world of serene indulgence at our spa. Located off the lounge, the spa emerges as a sanctuary of peace and tranquility, thoughtfully designed to blend the raw, natural beauty of the mountains with the soothing touch of luxurious self-care.

The 25-meter pool, a standout feature, showcases a mineral aesthetic with stone floors, creating a serene, natural atmosphere. The walls and ceiling, finished with hand-applied plaster, enhance the calming ambiance, while gentle light filters through openings on either side.

This tranquil retreat, complete with a fully equipped gym, two massage rooms, a hammam (or Turkish bath), and a sauna, offers a holistic wellness experience. Whether starting the day with a swim or unwinding with a massage, residents can find in this elegant haven their personal oasis, where every moment is dedicated to their well-being.

distinctive suites:
heritage and contemporary elegance

the perren offers two distinct styles of suites: “Heritage” and “Contemporary.” In both styles, all the furniture, including lighting, rugs, coffee tables, and seating, has been specially developed or selected for these spaces to create a cozy atmosphere.

heritage style

Natural and vibrant, this style reflects a desire to let the materials speak for themselves. The design, showcasing radical, pared-down architecture, features simple geometries and a deliberate simplicity. You'll find hand-plastered ceilings, large wooden battens, wide parquet strips, and raw pine and metal finishes. The wood paneling, built from slightly imperfect solid wood planks, highlights the craftsmanship's personal touch.

From the living room, you can enjoy an incredible view of the Matterhorn, complemented by a handmade ceramic fireplace-one of Yovanovitch's favorite materials for its uniqueness and artistry. The furniture is thoughtfully selected, blending vintage and contemporary pieces to create a decor that feels genuine and cohesive. The dining room is separate from the living room, and the kitchenette is closed off, reflecting a more classic layout. This design approach ensures a warm, inviting space that feels like a true home.

contemporary style

This sleek and sophisticated style features clean lines and a more modern treatment of materials. The wood is refined, with a softer and smoother finish, elegantly applied to the ceiling. Meanwhile, the plaster on the walls is executed in a modern, polished manner. This configuration is ideal for owners who value a sleek, sophisticated living environment with a refined aesthetic. If you enjoy open, airy spaces and a seamless blend of modern materials and design, the large living room with an open kitchenette will cater to your lifestyle. Whether you are a professional looking for a stylish retreat, a couple wanting a chic and comfortable living space, or a family seeking a contemporary getaway that balances functionality with beauty, this type of suite is designed to meet your needs and preferences.

innovation and sustainability

Sustainability is a primary focus for Steiger&Cie, especially in a town like Zermatt, which is the most self-sustaining winter resort in Switzerland and has been awarded the Energiestadt or Energy City” label, highlighting its commitment to sustainable energy practices. Notably, Zermatt is a car-free zone for combustion-engine vehicles to preserve clear views of the Matterhorn and prevent air pollution. Nearly all vehicles in the town are battery-powered and almost completely silent.

In alignment with the local eco-conscious policy, the key energy aspects of the perren building include the replacement of the existing oil-fired heating system with a hybrid system that utilizes geothermal energy and pellets, both renewable energy sources. Additionally, plans are to install photovoltaic solar panels across the entire roof to harness solar power and meet energy needs. The project will also prioritize using natural materials sourced locally, supporting sustainability and reducing environmental impact
