pierre yovanovitch

Pierre Yovanovitch founded the Paris-based design atelier in 2001 after a career as a menswear designer for Pierre Cardin led him to follow his creative passions into interior architecture and design.

Yovanovitch incorporates his signature haute couture aesthetic, in which he blends high art, architectural elements, and vintage furniture, to create a refined yet unpretentious setting. He is equally known for his ability to reimagine historic spaces to fit a contemporary lifestyle whilst maintaining the architectural integrity of the building. Central to his interior work is Yovanovitch’s passion for contemporary art. An avid collector himself, Yovanovitch incorporates contemporary works along with commissioning established and emerging artists to create on-site works.

Pierre Yovanovitch projects span globally from residential, hospitality and commercial undertakings including a Central Park penthouse, to a five-star hotel in Paris, to a 17th century chateau in Provence.

With galleries in both Paris and New York City, Pierre leads a team of over 120 employees. In May of 2021, Yovanovitch launched his own furniture brand, Pierre Yovanovitch Mobilier. The new brand runs in tandem with his interior architecture practice combining the designer’s iconic made-to-measure approach with superior craftsmanship, materiality and sustainable sourcing efforts to create unique luxury furniture and lighting

Establishing his architectural office in Sion, Switzerland, in 1947, René Comina laid the foundation for a legacy that would be carried forward by his sons. After obtaining their degrees in architecture, they seamlessly integrated into the family office.

The Verbier branch initially operated under the name Celcot SA from 1967 to 1987, undergoing a transformative shift to G. Comina SA. In 1985, the Crans-Montana office, known as Gabriel SA, was inaugurated, subsequently adopting the name Comina Architecture SA in January 2018.

Since 1997, Mr. Grégoire Comina, René’s son, has assumed the role of the sole manager, overseeing a dynamic team of over sixty members distributed across the four sites. The Zermatt office, inaugurated in December 2013, represents the latest expansion. Comina’s mission is defined by creativity, meticulous attention to detail, a comprehensive approach to architectural concepts, and a steadfast commitment to adhering to budgetary constraints and timelines.

It is a passion for the Swiss Alps, and specifically for Verbier, that is at the origin of everything. In the early 2000s, Florian Steiger moved away from the music industry, which was going through a serious crisis at the time. He found solace in the mountains, became a father, and envisioned a new destiny. Observing Verbier, he had the intuition that the luxury real estate market in the area lacked services. Based on this observation, he joined forces with VHS, Verbier Hospitality Services, to bring to life a unique and multi-faceted company.
